Help any ideas on how to get my Recon 335 to unlock, lever goes in and out of lock but forks stay in locked position.
You may have the common motion control o-ring failure. Not a big job to put right, just need to replace 2 o-rings on the damping rod. Loco on here does the kits, he'll probably be along shortly if not Google Loco Tuning
lever goes in and out
Are we talking a bar-mounted lever here? If so it's probably a sticky cable or crap under the pulley on the crown.
Jo, I think you're wide of the mark with that suggestion mate, the symptoms are different to what the OP described.... Of course it may be a bad description and you're right! 😉
Lever is not located on bars. Forks are not moving in there full range with the lockout lever in the open or closed position. They are always locked out giving you minimal movment.
Firstly, are you sure the lever is actually moving the lockout, not just turning on the shaft(unlikely, but possible)?Another possibility (far more likely) is the damper cartridge has piddled it's contents into the lower leg, sometimes accompanied by an oil leak from the bottom of the leg.
As Mr Coatsey says, probably seal head leak letting oil into the lowers, I've got separate seals for the seal head if needed.
Best way to check is take the bottom bolt out and see how much oil comes out, should only be 15ml max. if more you've probably got a leak.
You'll need 5 weight oil for refilling the damper unit and 15 weight for the lowers.
