I've just heard about these and wondered if anyone is using them:

Presume as stock the shock doesn't have any inside it?

I have some trouble with pedal strikes so wondering if one or more of these spacers would provide a bit more support

Volume spacers primarily affect the end of the stroke and would not significantly help in reducing pedal strikes. You'd get more mid stroke support by either running less sag or adding more low speed compression (not sure if this is adjustable on your shock?) but both of these will be a trade off against other qualities e.g. suppleness.

If your pedalling timing is already spot on and you are still struggling with pedal strikes then perhaps shorter cranks are worth considering?

If you still want to play with volume spacers, I just purchased some knock off 3D printed ones on ebay for half the price of Rockshox.

You shock may have up to 3 - depends what the manufacturer specified. You need to open it up and see.

Whether it helps with pedal strikes? Depends what the cause is - deep into the stroke yes, if its pedalling up things and so in the first half of the stroke, then no, less tokens more air is what you want.

If you want more mid stroke support & the bike to ride higher in the travel, then you need a Meg Neg.
Meg Neg is a larger negative air can that allows you to run higher pressures without losing suppleness of initial stroke.
The volume spacers just ramp up the end stroke to avoid bottoming out & if you put too many in you may struggle to achieve full travel.

thanks

my pedal strikes are mainly down to poor technique

will try more air first although think i'm already getting the recommended sag and it's rare for me to bottom out the shock completely

cranks are short already

Megneg probably will sort this - I’ve felt on my last 2 bikes the soft bump was r grr eat and they generally didn’t bottom out but I whizzes through more travel than I thought I should on compressions etc.

Megneg’d both and that worked well for me (still is now on my 2nd bike with it fitted). Both shocks had rebound damping adjustment but only 2/3 settings for compression so I couldn’t hold the shock up with lsc.

More air in your case is likely a bad idea if you're already at the recommended sag and rarely using all the travel. I'd recommend consciously trying to improve your technique seeing as though you have identified it as a weakness. You'll improve in no time and your suspension will still be nice and supple for when you need it. Better yet, it costs you nowt to upskill!
