Currently have this shock on a whyte t130s, I have 200psi which with my Weight (13stone) put me between 25/30% sag, I have two tokens fitted which for my normal riding works OK and I don't bottom out the shock but can use nearly all the travel.
I was at bike park Wales yesterday, beginning of the day I only bottomed out the shock on the odd occasion but by the end of the day it as alot easier to bottom out. So either the shock got progressively worse or I was just hitting things slightly harder, faster? Was mainly on drops with are around 2foot, think bonnyville or insufficient funds trails.
So I would like the shock to be more progressive, you can only fit 3 tokens so I've room for one more, long term would this cause any damage to the shock being on the upper limit with these tokens? I'm reluctant to add more air as will take away the small bump sensitivity and plushness
It will be absolutely fine with 3 tokens fitted.
You can only fit three tokens, but one can be a gnar dog which means the equivalent of 4.5 tokens in total.
Thanks for the reply replies, I didn't know about the gnar dog token, seems it fills all the small spaces up at the top of the shock, with the two tokens I have now I seems to have fair bit of adjustment to go.
The bike the shock is on is nearly new, it's been used 5 times, I didn't know if suspension had a settle in period where things start to move easier and loosen up, if that makes sense?
I've found just messing about On my drive I can do a bunny hop and push the bike down hard and it will bottom out, I've no idea if thats to be expected or not?
Is it normal to fit a large amount of bottomless tokens to shocks to stop bottom out so easily, my old bike had a monarch and I had to fit 6 or 7 bottomless rings in that to make it ramp up
I blew my deluxe rt3 at BPW a few weeks ago, and my symptoms seem very similar to yours. By the end I lost all rebound and compression damping and the shock was like a pogo stick.
Do your compression and rebound adjusters still have an effect?
With 25-30% sag you really shouldn’t be able to bottom out on your drive!
I know the lockout works fine. I've not adjusted the rebound since I've been back, it felt fine when riding.
