Hello,
I recently bought a pair of 2012 Boxxers form my first proper DH build. I was reading throught the manual and it stated that the crown to crown height should be 156mm +/- 2mm and that there should be a min of 2mm between the top of the stanction and the top of the top crown.
If I set the fork up as stated then the distance between the bottom of the bottom crown and the oil seals on the lowers is approx 185mm which is less than the supposed travel of the fork. Does anyone have any ideas where the missing 15mm of stantion to allow the fork to get full travel has gone to?
How essential is this 156mm crown to crown measurement? The manual says I should use a short crown (like the one supplied) on frames with a head tube stack height of under 148mm (mine is a 224 evo and is under 148mm). So do I set the lower crown a few mm above 200mm max bottom out travel point on the stanction and fit the top crown around this even though it would give me a c to c height of less than 156mm or is there another way to do this?
I hope you can understand the problem! Any help would be much appreciated.
Rhid
Set the 200mm length, forget about the crown to crown length. Never once seen or head of a crown-crown related problem on a dh bike.
Also, how do Orange sell the stock build? I bet it's the short crown set low as possible
Yeah it is with a short crown. I knew reading the maunal would only confuse issues!
