10 inflations on the e-mtb (30psi)

I'm very sceptical of that, do they make that claim and what size tyre do they refer to?

I see the attraction of a rechargeable pump but to date have not been convinced to give up on a manual pump with an inexhaustible supply of air and a CO2 just in case a bead needs reseating.

I get good results from standard pumps, even in the rare occasion I puncture (and I'm running tubes). It's another thing to charge, and what happens if not charged for ages, and you realise it's flat.

Merlin sell the wonderfully named FumpaPumpa which looks pretty similar. It claims to be able to inflate two road tyres per charge though it is more money. I think I will stick with manual inflation,!

No tyre sizes mentioned hence why i said ill take it with a pinch of salt until real world testing

Not fussed by another thing to charge, everything is rechargable these days, lights, di2, AXS, helmet cam, Garmin, Headphones, Phone, so one more thing makes no difference to me personally

I have no issue using a pump but they still are a pain to use esp when the weather is rubbish and or its dark , you are in a rush and end up snapping/damaging the valve

The big issue is not how well they work, but whether they are gonna work when needed.
Although, I guess it’s the same as Di2.

A friend has one of those type of pumps, couldn’t tell you the brand. He seems pleased with it. As for not working when you need it, I’ve had that a few times with rarely used frame mounted pumps not working or falling apart.

This is the other problem with having 7 bikes in the household that have pumps and Co2, having to periodically check each pump is still working and dosent have any issues through lack of use and being strapped to a bike ridden in all weathers

Not really, charge once purchased, then just charge after each use or if not used then check the state of charge every couple of months, no different to DI2, AXS, i weekly charge my headphones and their case, Garmin, helmet cam, smart watch etc.. so one more device isnt an issue

It's larger than that rockbros pump, but it comes with a decent frame storage bag. It'll pump up a 2.3 inch wide  29er mtb tyre from flat to 22psi 7 times before running out of juice. I haven't needed to use it much, but it has always worked when I have needed it.

The thing about normal pumps, is that they don't need refilling with anything, other than air, which you can do with your arm.

After dabbling with co2 I went back to pumps because of this reason. Onve you've used the cartridges you have with you, you are then stuck if you need any more.

My mountain morph pump is probably over 20 years old (saying that, I think it was 2002 or 3 when I bought it) and it sits in a bag...it works every single time I need to use it (less than 10 times a year). It never gets maintained or dried, it goes back in a bag and left until the next time.im absolutely all for electronic solutions - but I prefer them to be better or more practical than the acoustic version...axs absolutely meets that. This pump doesn't do it for me, I'll stick with the Mountain Morph as that has been incredibly dependable.

I recently bought an electric pump for the car. £20 and added 5psi to 4 car tyres with plenty of charge left.

Doesn't have a presta adaptor but they can be picked up on Ebay for a couple of pounds. It inflates slowly- they all do- so don't expect it to reseat a tyre but for the shed it's a useful toy.

Lighter, much more compact, does road and MTB, doesn't rip valve stems off (TBF neither does the morph but other pumps can be problematic).

The only downside is the limited number of tyres between charges.  Might be an issue on a solo winter epic in Wales, but the other 99% of the year rides are shorter,  clubmates are plentifully, and there's always the broomwagon to call on if all else fails ?.

Lots of these pumps on alliexpress and a lot cheaper. Ive got 2 branded as cyclami im very impressed with them for the money, less than £30. The bigger of the two i have will easily inflate 4x 29" tyres to 24psi from 0.

this is my fear of CO2. A (luckily rare) flat tyre usually means a progression of repair attempts:

1 - add a bit more air to see if it seals on its own

2 - find the hole, put it at the bottom and shake, see if it seals

3 - plug it, try to get it to seal

4 - give up and put a tube in.

how many canisters would I need to guarantee I can get through step 4? Even if step 1 works most of the time.

I'm dubious of anything with a rechargeable battery that isnt replaceable from an unknown brand. Rapidly end up in landfill IME

Im not sure why there is so much hate for these things? Smaller and lighter than manual pumps, plus you actually can get an accurate tyre pressure
