Just looking at ordering a Bird Aeris for the boys birthday. I have a couple of options on the forks. Mainly Revelations or Sektor RL. I have run revelations in the past and i liked them but i have never even seen a set of sektors or know anyone who has to get a fair opinion.

The bike will not be ridden hard, he is just learning and feeling his way on the gnarly stuff.

I have sectors on my zero, wanted to keep the cost down. Forks seem to do the job well enough and going by your description im sure he'll be fine with them.

Nice one Jay, yep its the cost at the moment swaying me towards Sektors. I could always upgrade the forks in a year if he doesn't like them Good thing is he doesn't know what he likes 🙂

I've got coil Sektors for my Blue Pig after my Fox Talas failed for the 3rd time. I bought them because they were cheap and reliable.
They are ok, and do the job reasonably well, but they are a far cry from top of the range forks. However I like them because they work, are good enough and are dead easy to service.

That was my thought too about upgrading, I'll probably wait until the sektors die or I see a good deal.

They are great forks IMO. I run a set of 26er flavour in 150mm on my grapil. They essentially use the previous gen revelation chassis with moco damper (at least mine do, not sure on current ones).

Great forks, easy to work on, very reliable. I did get them as a cheap option to test 150mm travel... With a potential to upgrade... I have absolutely no desire to change them.

I run 26inch 140mm Solo Air Sektors on my 2013 Five and to be fair they're awesome. I fully expected to want to upgrade them to Pikes when I bought the bike but there's absolutely no need they just work really well.

Love mine, great forks in my humble opinion. There was a recent thread on this, consensus was positive but there's a lot of different models (or have been over the years at least).

Ace guys. Thanks for that. I'll keep the build with them I reckon and upgrade if necessary.

Great fork, I had the 140mm coil spring option on my HT and they knocked spots off the 140mm Fox Floats I had on my other bike.
Easy to service and incredibly reliable.

My 2014 Sektors were bang average and the equivalent Revs my pal had were miles better. Can't recommend magnolia.

Sektor DPC on my 456, sometimes feel a little flexi but generally pretty good if I'm not too aggressive, though I do weigh 14st
