Just playing with an old set of these I picked up on the cheap to put on a hardtail I'm chucking together as a pub bike and I'm stumped.

The lockout that is set up for a poploc springs to on rather than off. So I need a poploc and to have it on constantly in order to use the forks. I've had Rebas apart before and they're pretty straightforward, do I need to buy a whole new dampener?

As far as i know the damper doesnt change. I think it is also possible just to lift the spring off internally to save you buying the poplock. Im sure ive seen some online instructions if you google it but i might be wrong

Couple of things you can do with this. If you've got the cable collar on the top of the fork, get an old gear cable and thread it through so that the nipple sits in where the outer cable would be. Then comes the tricky bit. You need to turn the lockout to the open position and hold it in place enough to anchor the cable and secure it with the grub screw.

if you can do that, it'll be permanantly open.

Alternatively, remove the fork damper, at the top of the fork leg, and look at the return spring wound round the motion control damper shaft. you'll see that it's hooked over a pin. if you can unhook it using a small screwdriver, the lockout will no longer return to the closed position.

personally, I'd do the first one, but I have done the second, but only when I'd bought a manual crown lockout lever off ebay. using the remote lockout on the top of the fork is quite fiddly.
