i am posting this in the hope that someone can explain something, i know hardly anything about suspension forks.
i was about to post a thread asking for help because my uturn adjuster had stopped changing the travel on my fork. it could still rotate either direction, just no change in travel. then i noticed there was oil leaking from the lowers on the same side as the uturn. i thought it was another problem. all i had to do was tighten the bolt on the lower to stop the leak, then suddenly my uturn adjuster started working again! the explanation may or may not be simple but i can't work it out and i don't want to take the fork apart to see what's happening. i would assume it has something to do with pressure within the fork lower, and obviously if there's an escape point (the loose bolt) then any pressure build up would escape through the gap and prevent the fork from propping up and increasing the travel.
has anyone seen this sort of thing before?
Sounds like the bolt on the bottom is loose and rotating meaning the uturn is just rotating and not winding down. I'd check the oil level, replace crush washers, clean stud thread and bolt and put a bit of thread lock on it and reassemble
thanks for replying. like i said, after i tightened the bolt at the bottom and stopped the oil from leaking the uturn worked fine. i was out on the bike for a few hours afterwards with no problems.
are you saying that there might still be a problem and what i've done is just a temporary fix? to me it seemed like tightening the bolt on the lower was what fixed it, if you know what i mean.
