My new bike came with one of these as a rear, changed straight off, it's a summer tyre for dry conditions, probs good all year at trail centres, i ride in the loam so need some central knobs.

I used the 26" version on the rear for most of last summer, including the EWS in Peebles. It aint got much grip, but then again it's a rear tyre and I like it loose so not much of a problem. Good for rolling resistance though and a bit of edge grip when cornering.

Used one for the first time last night, with a Magic Mary up front, think I've found the best set up for 3 seasons, only when it's really wet will I go back to a full tread rear tyre

Cheers guys

I'll give it a go and see what what its gonna be like, always change back if we get a long period of many weather, which is the norm.

I quite like mine but I find that it's either rubbish or brilliant. I thought it was great on a big ride in the Peaks last summer but it was a bit rubbish on sone local steep stuff. It'll be back on the bouncy bike soon enough though.

Just switched to the 26 version on the back of my Alpine. I really like it so far (combined with a Hans Dampf up front) - has done a couple of wet Peaks rides and a few spins round the mixed conditions (from dry hardpack to sloppy mud) of the local woods. The little central knobbles offer more grip than you expect and the edge knobs dig in really well once you lean the bike.

Caveat is I was running a Spesh Captain before this, which itself isn't the grippiest, knobbliest tyre...

Have you seen the specialized slaughter? It is very similar to the razor with perhaps bigger side treads and now available in 29 grid, it might last longer than a schwalbe ?

I've been looking for these and I don't think they are available in the UK aftermarket yet, no Grid 29er tyres are yet, I posted on Specialized UK's facebook and they confirmed this and said they were going to try to get them in to the UK

I saw them for sale on a UK website:

I asked my LBS if they could get me one, they said yes. That was only a couple of days ago though so they might have only just come into the UK

They are great tyres when new, but even half worn out the grip gets very dicey

I bought a 29er slaughter grid from the concept store in bristol.

Only ridden it a couple of times but it seems to roll fast and corner well. It replaced an ardent 2.25 it is a fair bit heavier.

Quite a beefy sturdy casing on the tyre then ianpv ?
They come fitted fitted to the 2015 spesh enduro with control casing.

Hibike in Germany have them in stock if nothing can be found in the UK. I've used them for other tyres Specialized choose not to bring into the UK, namely the Butcher Grid 29er

My Rock Razor just arrived today from Bike Inn.

The centre knows are very low profile indeed - can't see them lasting very long.

Will be keeping it & an HD for the front as my summer rubber.

Mine cut to ribbons in Calderdale, wouldn't recommend for rocks at all, only good thing I didn't pay through the nose for it
