tempted to try this now it's back in UK supply. Tried it a while back and found I was going through a shed load of it during application while back pedalling - is there a knack to it ?

I just put a bit on each roller of the chain. If you have the lube coming out all the time when you're back pedaling you get lots of lube where it doesn't need to be - on the links between the rollers.

I pop the bike upside down, and drip onto the chain at the lower mech jockey.

Preferably either straight after a ride, or the night before riding.

Lots, if you are wasting it move the chain faster, it's cleaning and lubing apparently. Well anyway works for me, get good chain life without the ocd of lots in here which is worth a lot

Could you submerge the chain in the lube and the hang it up above the container so that all the excess runs back into the container? Probably give it a couple hours. Or is that too much lube?

I'd never commit such a crime 🙂

Over complicated and a bit of a faff if you lube the chain a few times a week.

Oh and an old towel on the chain stay to catch any drips, then use that to wipe the chain - which then gets a wee bit of lube on the outside edges of the chain which cleans it.

lube the inside of the chain below the chainstay, the lube stays inside and on the chain also doing the cleaning and the waxing

Do it all the time when washing the bike and checking all the bolts on a regular basis. I know it's frowned upon, but so is Heineken and I quite like a cold one... 😀

I'm a serial r'n'r user and for the first 10 bottles or so years back I used to just slosh it on, and it wasted tonnes

now as above I find the best course of action to use sparingly is to apply to each roller one at a time, using the quick link as a gauge to tell me when ive done a full chains worth

takes a bit longer, but it gets where it needs to, then just back pedal for about 20 seconds and shift all the way up and down the cassette to lube the cassette slightly, then just wipe of excess

lasting a lot longer now too, especially seems good value when you get the 16oz from cycle clinic

Yep me too. I don't shift up and down the cassette though as there's no reason to lube a cassette.

it just helps keep a bit of water resistance on the cassette, especially as i often dont clean the cassette after a ride so the excess lube removes the water, before it rusts...no biggy mind, just habbit ive got into

slopping r'n'r on the chain just doesnt work for me, wet lube its fine, but its not how r'n'r works from my experience

i also like the puruple extreme lube, thats extremely clean running but just doesnt quite last as long as the r'n'r

I take the whole chain off, clean it fully in white spirit bath, wash clean in hot water then one drop per link, both sides and then a thorough wipe down.

Leave to 'cure' a bit before putting on the bike, helps if have cleaned the cassette and the chain rings.

Great lifespan, very little pick upof dirt and long time between applications.

Most importantly you know its a job well done...

TBH though, one of the plusses is after the first application, you can blast off the dirt with a hose, then slather on the r'n'r wait and then wipe off.

Might well be but I guess it depends when and how often you ride. I just don't have time to do that on regular use bike.

Sending up my own OCD chain maintenance Gary. Am regularly lampooned by the best mate for it.

I just tell him his brake levers aren't level and he loops out.

This. Sod that malarkey, one of the reasons I like RnR is that my chain stays pretty clean, and thus avoids such nonsense!.

^^^ aye, and you ride through big rivers too 🙂

i liberally squirt in on while back-pedalling, then wrap the chain in a rag and back pedal to wipe any excess off

cheers Gary, Wondering how it holds up on mtb in our typical wet natural stuff... I use Progold Extreme on road in winter but found it awful on mtb last few wet manky Mugdock rides. I will be back to what left in my MucOff C3 ceramic for tonight, before likely buying R'n'R..

anyway, back on topic with R'n'R 🙂

Just ordered some R 'n' R extreme to give a whirl from Flea bbay (small bottle before buting a big one)

I've been using Squirt the last 18 months or so and really like it but I'm not sure that I really trust it on a really shitty wet ride.

Will give the slow but methodical application approach a go first which is how I normally apply chain lube.
