Heading up with the campervan to Robin Hood's Bay for a few days over half-term. Probably squeezing a bike in somewhere. In the past I've just taken a spin up and down the cinder path, but had a sqizz at the OS map and there seem to be a few bridleways dotted about that drop down a few contour lines.

Linked together the route below. I have no idea what these trails are like on the ground. Anyone local or know the area can have a look and see if it's a reasonable ride?

If not, what's worth doing in the area? Needs to be rideable from Robin Hood's Bay itself and be around 30-40km ideally. Anything interesting in those woods to the south of the map area?

Thanks all.

Guisborough. Preferably with a local.

😁 once the standout is out of the way, it really depends what you want. There’s loads of singletrack all over the moors to coast and plenty of entertainment started no around Blakey Ridge, but obviously you need to be particularly aware and respectful of erosion especially as you get closer to the coastal edges. Lots of the moorland is Grouse which may result in land rover chases. If you want woodland thrills, Guissey is your destination though but be aware nothing in there anymore is official.

Thanks dickie. That first one looks like a good starting point to base something off.

Yes, its a nice route, I did it a few years ago. Its taken from North York Moors Mountain Biking, Moorland Trails, by Tony Harker.
Once over the main road in the woodland to the south of Ravenscar the track was badly & deeply rutted by over use of 4x4's but its not too long a section.
Friends & I used to make the Dalby to Robin Hoods Bay ride an annual event which is a nice full day out XC ride.

Think I'm going to give this try. Based on that route but with a few tweaks into the unknown. They'll either be awesome or I'll be walking a few bits...
