I think he's ace... he's one of these really really passionate MTBers, which is plenty good enough for me. He's the sort of bloke i could happily go out drinking with, but you know it's gonna get messy about 1am

I'm sure he's gutted to hear that a miserable sod doesn't like him. 🤣

Is he the bloke that constantly swears in a tedious repetitive nature like a Ned at the back of the bus?

Wish I had 50% of his riding talent. Would be about 200% better than what I have

There were a couple of perfect dry days here last week, and then the rains came again!

Rob Warner is great, so much personality and obviously doesn't take himself too seriously and can take a joke. Very likeable.

Rob is always entertaining viewing and never fails to put a smile on my face, but some people just look for things to be offended by, soppy bollox, bourgeois snowflakes keeping the spirit of Mary Whitehouse alive. What circles do these people move in and what do they shout when they step on a plug or a bit of lego.😇

I agree with above, colourful language but I can't think when he's been offensive. He comes across as genuinely passionate about the sport and is infectious with his enthusiasm.

If his videos aren't for you there are plenty of others out there.  I for one like him and have a young teenage lad who enjoys his videos as well, that's pretty impressive for a bloke older than me to engage with da yoof.

That is the one, complete with endless rapist and misogynistic jokes.

He is clearly a great rider, I love his commentary and passion, clearly he lives and breathes bikes and the people in the sport.

However I am not watching any more Warner videos.

Not out of any influence or spite - I just don't need to hear such offensive 'humour'.

You've completely misunderstood. I'm not offended by it, I'm bored by it. I love a good bit of swearing, but the key video I watched was dire. He just dropped the word **** into every sentence in a really tedious way that completely desensitised it. Some people swear brilliantly to excellent comic effect, he just sounded like a Ned.
( This was one film in particular I'm thinking of. I've seen others where he was indeed swearing much less and also much better. The video was all the better for it)

I'm confused, there's been a Rob Warner channel for ages with loads of random stuff going back years. Now his channel just has 4 videos?

I can recall him turning the air blue at a Penshurst Off-Road Club DH event many many years ago over some really trivial. PORC is a very grass-roots venue and there were loads of kids and families around. It was mid/late 90's around the time he was in MBUK all the time so the kids were all fans sort of looking up to him and he was just massively rude and offensive, chucking his bike around and telling everyone to f off.

Wish I had 50% of his riding talent.

It still surprises me how good he is, I wasn't into MTB until the very end of his riding career, so to me he's always been the sort of DH class clown. I know he won a World Cup, but Rob being Rob he puts it down to a combination of a very lucky downpour of rain and an STI. In his day he was a very very good rider, who almost won the WC over-all, without really caring about winning or losing.

An old Friend of mine actually knew him when he was young, they used to compete in Motorcycle Trials against each other. He (Warner) was always the nutter of the group, he's wild, I mean he's wild now at 50, you can imagine what he was like in his Teens. My old Friend has almost super natural control of a bike, any bike it doesn't matter, speed and control like you wouldn't believe, but he says Rob was more talented.

If you don't know what Rob is like by now you must have been living under a rock for the past 20+ years, if you're so easily offended why tune in, you know full well there's f bombs coming along with political incorrectness in spades. Do virtue signallers never bored themselves rigid.

For what it's worth I generally find his commentary erring towards grim 'bantz' more than I would like - but I thought he came across fine in that video.

I remember MBUK did a stunt a few years ago when Warner and Peaty took turns racing a motorbike trials rider down caersws. Peaty won but not by much and warner's times were easily elite level, and he'd been retired for years then. Just naturally fast

Very annoying voice.

That's part the appeal to me, I like a simple Southern accent (not calling Warner simple).

Also like his self deprecation on his riding. "Oh don't film me now, if you'd not had the camera on me I'd have launched the lot!".

I mean, it's not high brow humour, he just likes having a laff. I've missed out on the misogyny and raping.

I’ve got mixed views on Warner. An elder-statesman of our sport and damn fast back in the day. He used to rub shoulders with the likes of Pete, Palmer Rockwell and Vouilloz so certainly knows a thing or two about how to get a bike down a mountain.

Genuinely lovely guy too. He was generous enough to stop and chat to me and my similarly snot-nosed 17 year old mate at Bike ‘97, and used to chat with us local kids when he turned up at our local spot back in the day.

I do wish he’d tone it back on the swears though. I know it’s his personality to an extent, but it gets really tiring after a while, and frankly he’s old enough to know better.

I really think the OP missed the chance to title this thread "Can you grout a turtle smooth?"

I think 'class clown' is about right. Funny but maybe getting less so as you get 40+ yrs old.

The thing is, I think he can actually say some insightful things about racing.

Have to rewatch, but not noticed much swearing, or any in these, so might be worth watching before labelling, it wasn’t full on stuff in the video, but starting out. I think he saves the lads stuff and swearing for when he’s with the guys he’s been riding with for a generation now!

The video was around the new vitus, think they should’ve given him a bit more bike as he’s wrecking it just through usage!
