...and good for them. Ineos and other teams quit the stage after a car entered the course and drove toward the peleton. Sounds very dangerous.

One of the few things I like about professional road racing is how bolshy the riders are, and how they have solidarity in not accepting things from organisers sponsors etc.

It says "several incidents"! Pretty major thing to screw up once.

I totally get how it can happen once, I've marshalled similiar events and short of putting down concrete blocks or planting landmines there's no way to stop the biggest idiots. Assuming that's what happened at least, rather than an outright cockup of leaving a road open.

Teams need to get their own driving standards in line too. The way they drive around the peloton and the assistants shuttling between feed zones is much more risky because it's constant exposure. 

I witnessed a race convoys doing estimate 50/60 mph through a Belgian village a few years ago.
