Are their any advantages/disadvantages to either??
cheers 🙂
Tubs and tub rims are lighter than clincher ones, so probably better for racing. Actually, only good for racing when you're looking to save every gram. Utterly pointless otherwise. Really expensive too. Apparently aP paid £65 per tyre for some tubs!
Tubs to roll quicker too. These day's though there's less difference between tubs and a good pair of clincher tyres and rims.
I still prefer the way tubs ride, but they're a bit of a pain if you puncture.
and only if you have a support car. As not many people can change a tub as quickly as a clincher when it flats.Actually, only good for racing when you're looking to save every gram
Which is often overlooked until you bin a race due to this.
For everyday riding too much hassle - I like tubs for cross as they're lighter and can be run at low pressures. I've bought some recently for the 3 Peaks then for this winters cross season. I'll just have the fun on Friday of fitting them to the new wheels which should be built up for me by the end of the week.
OK then... I'll steer clear of tubs for a set of general usage/'training' wheels... pity, 'cos there's a nice set of 303's that look like going for a low price this evening...
