Had to return my Magicshine 1700 as the mount was wearing out (could 3D print one and save the planet, but the shop wanted the remains of the light returned).

Anyone got any good replacement recommendations?

Only interested in lights with proper STVZO style beams and a selectable high beam via a remote (or easy to hit button).

Think that narrows it down to another Magicshine 1700evo (and make a new mount before the light gets launched down the road) or has anyone tried the Moon Titan Max?  Not too fussed whether its an all in one unit or a battery pack, the all in one is nice to have, but I've got spare 7.4v equally that's a useful option.

Ravemen PR something - whichever suits your light requirement & budget.
I've got the 1600 which I've had for at least 5 years now. It's a solid light and while it doesn't have a proper stvzo lens it does have a road beam and I've never been flashed while using it on the road.

Mine came with a remote. One button flicks to both the high & low beam.
Only thing with this, is when you go back to low beam, it goes to max power and you have to cycle back through to the power level you were on. No big deal though for me as I tend to just leave it on the dipped beam.
I have a feeling they updated newer ones so it stays on the previous power level when flicking high beam on & off, but don't take my word for that.

Solid construction & a good mount.

Yea, I saw those, they look good but I'd prefer something that mounted under the Garmin or under the bar as I tend to hold the bar in quite a narrow grip while climbing

I went dynamo for my road bike, and have been very happy with it. Son delux hub, Edelux front and Son rear light.

Older/second hand Exposure Strada will still be bright enough, but if regular night riding is a thing, a dynamo is a great solution

I bought a magicshine hori 1300 recently and it is pretty good. Programmable settings, wireless remote and a horizontal cut off you require. Garmin mount as well.

I've got a Raveman CR1000 mounted under my Bolt (out front mount) - you need to take the front off and rotate the lens 180' as it does have a reasonabley decent cut-off beam pattern. Has a remote mode button. A couple of (poor!) videos I took:

Wearing out how? and what part of the mount has worn?
(I ask as I also have one and have been using it for a few years now)

I generally just use an Exposure Strada. I did recently buy a Twowild 1700 from AliExpress just to see what it's like (and to have a spare) but I think the beam cut-off is a bit severe (and in general the lighting is nowhere near as good as the Strada, that said it is a fraction of the price). I also found mounted under my out-front Garmin mount (via a GoPro adapter plate) it was a bit low so the front tyre cast quite a big shadow - would be a decent commuting option though.

I use a Strada SB Aktiv and have for a number of years.  Works for me.  I also run a joystick on my helmet for fast, twistier descents and just angle it to throw a little further and then tweak it back when back on normal roads.  I’ve not been flashed by cars for quite some time with this combo, even on unlit B-roads.  The helmet light is also useful for “reminding” oncoming cars that the should also dip their headlights for bikes as well as other cars.  Prats!

I have an exposure strada. Has a remote and it's bright enough for road riding at night. Not impressed by the battery life however.

Yea, I've got a dynamo on my fixie commuter that does occasional night rides, it's great but a little over budget by the time I've built the wheel, otherwise I'd be getting the new B+M IQ-XL!

Yea, I like the idea of the auto dipping, as an alternative to a cut off, just a bit £££ though.

The 'rail' part where the light slides onto the mount developed play to the point where it wouldn't stay clipped in.  I'd had it almost exactly 12 months so probably been taken off and charged twice a week in that time?

I liked it, so I'm tempted to just get another one.

They do actually sell the mount so I suspect they know it breaks/wears out.  But it's out of sock.  Magicshine EVO 1700 Mount Part for White : Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

Exactly the same happened to my Magicshine 1700, mounting bracket developed play then finally gave up the ghost. Unfortunately a car ran over it before I could dash out to retrieve it!

Replaced it with an Exposure light, yeah they're expensive but it's gonna be many years until I need to replace it!

if anything my evo1700's quick release mount is a little too tight but I also tend to just charge it as soon as I get in using a long usb c cable and the light still mounted to the bike.

I've got a Magicshine Hori 1300 same as someone above. Has a Garmin quarter turn mount rather than a clip so reckon that might last better.

I got my on eBay, brand new with a water damaged box for almost 1/2 price. Inside if the box was completely fine so worked out to be a good deal.
