Had a Mavic wheel that imploded with a collapsed worn out rim. No rattle
Bought a new high end Mavic wheel in a sale, 2013 model.
Same cassette is being used, a 10 speed ultegra and the spacer supplied with the wheel is in place but the cassette rattles like mad when on a slight rough surface. Shifting is a bit shonky too.
It's driving me mad. Put an extra spacer in from the old wheel and then the free hub won't spin properly.
Anyone experienced this and what was the problem?

Shouldn't there be a spacer with the cassette too? Putting a second mavic spacer on there will (possibly) make the lock ring drag on the drop out.....
You do have to do them up very tight to get them snug
Should be a Mavic spacer and a 1.0mm Shimano spacer.
It's all nice and tight (lock ring and skewer)
It's the same set up as the old mavic wheel. Cassette and the Mavic spacer
What about the 1mm shimano spacer?
Don't have a shimano one though sounds what the problem is. Was fine on the other wheel!
Part number is Y1Z807000.
Apparently.
It's shown on the exploded diagram.
Thanks guys.
Just had a route around the spares box and found an old spacer from another cassette.
Have fitted it ok and wheel spinning fine. Bit too much vino to go shooting off round the streets now but I reckon that's cured it.
Odd that it didn't cause a problem on the old wheel. Checked the hub and there was no spacer left on it. I lifted the cassette straight from one wheel to the other.
Thanks again 🙂
