I have planned a few road routes that involve some off road. Bridleways etc. My bike frame only allows up to 700x28.
I was looking at Continental Cyclocross speed tyres but they only as 35's? So don't think they will fit my Kenesis Racelight T1.
So whats a good 700x28 that would be good on/off road, or perhaps there isnt such a thing???

maybe answering my own question, but I guess its more of a city tyre like:

I don't think you'll find many 28mm tyres with proper off-road tread.

Something like the Panaracer Gravel King 28 would be all I can think of off the top of my head.

EDIT: Most of the touring tyres have a solid (or very nearly slick) centre tread to keep rolling resistance down on the road. This is fine most of the time, but can get very sketchy very quickly.

I know what you mean, I have 2 sets of winter tyres, Vredstein Fortezza Senso & Vittoria Rubino Pro and both have this slick centre.
So no good for off road, plus these are 25. I guess would help to go wider?
So I guess an "Urban" tyre is my best bet like leelovesbikestoo says:

Michelin Protek [Max] also looks like it might be a possibility

As does the Kenda Kwik Trax

doing my head in now. I have it down to 2:
https://www.cyclestore.co.uk/panaracer_tour_guard_plus_commuting_tyre_with_free_tube-ID_65594
28 - YES 29.99

http://www.probikekit.co.uk/bicycle-tyres/schwalbe-marathon-supreme-reflex-clincher-road-tyre/10827221.html
28 - YES 29.99

I guess Panaracer might be better for off road bit. But My rides will probably be only 25% off road, so still want as good a roller as poss? So temteped to go for Shwalbe?

I think ur last recommendation is too off road for me? ta though

How much do you need cleated tread (knobblies) for off-road use?

I ride quite happily on hard pack fireroad on my completely slick Conti 28s and some old Specialized 1" Fatboys. It's only when the ground gets muddy/wet/grassy when the rear starts spinning. Perhaps go for a light, fast rolling commuting tyre with a reinforced tread?

The Schwalbes are nice and light at 310g, but those Panaracers will feel like a pair of dogs at 800g EACH! 😯

i would go for a much more supple tyre than a marathon guard.

Maybe a marathon supreme/ racer of durano. or a panaracer pasela. low pressure, maybe with latex tubes too.

You will find that low pressure will get you a surprising amount of grip from a 'slick'
