Im a long time tubeless convert - and my road bike has been tubeless since I bought it. All of a sudden the other day I found the rear was flat. Pumped it up, and air rushed out of the small hole (approx 1mm) near the valve thats in the rim out towards the tyre -presumably from the forming of the wheel. Its never been an issue previously but it sure as hell is now. I've had the valve out and cleaned up any gunk, replaced the sealant and yet the air still rushes out of the hole. Any ideas whats going on and how to fix it?
Replace the rim tape? With some tapes, particularly cloth-backed ones, the sealant can degrade the adhesive bond providing a route for the air to escape.
The hole is a drain hole for water that gets in through the spoke holes and it’s likely that you need to redo the tape as above…
cheers all, Ill give it a try ( was hoping the answer would be anything other than retaping....)
Remove old tape - clean thoroughly with isopropyl - fit new tape - simples 🙂
