Is there a difference between 700x23c & 700x23 ?
Is a 700x25 bigger than a 700x23 ?
Are Michelin Lithion Road Bike Tyres any good - folding at 230g each.
Or can anyone recommend me a light reasonably cheap pair of tyres.
Building up a Planet X pro carbon for the GF & looking for some tyres to suit - probably going on Planet X B wheel set.
No, yes, yes.
As said, no, yes, and yes.
I use Vittoria rubino pro's on my road bike, love them although its a bit worrying when it says minimum inflation pressure of 100psi
I personally really like michelin pro race 3 but I know a lot of others like Conti. Both are decent. Get a decent set of tyre and don't skimp too much it makes a big difference.
Rubinos very hard wearing, and also look at mich Krylions. Both have served me well and are very puncture resistant and easy rolling, though not as much so a higher end tyres.
Beware mfr size variations though, some 23 s are smaller than others, and also have a look at how various tyre / rim combinations go together, some can be very difficult indeed to fit
Pretty much all the well known names make pretty good road tyres. Conti, Michelin etc.
700x25 is nominally 2mm wider than 700x23. The larger tyre has more contact area, more rounded profile and possibly more comfort thanks to the larger volume of air in the tyre. Some technical FAQs answered by Schwalbe here.
I've been very happy with my Rubino Pro II (folding), which are lighter and better spec than standard Rubino (wire bead). There's now an improved Pro III. Krylions roll well, are robust and very popular.
IIRC Lithion is a lower spec tyre than these two so I wouldn't want to pay over the odds for them but I'm sure they are fine. Tyres are consumables so you can always upgrade in due course.
00x23c & 700x23 ?

in etrto sizing of these is 622-23, 622-25 etc the big the second number the wider the tyre.
i have 622-28 gator skins on my SS commuter for a bit if comfort.
whereas my 29er has 622-56 - squishy!
@grahamt1980 I would ignore the 100 psi. Fine on smooth roads, but I usually run 80-90 psi, it's more reassuring and comfortable on the poor surfaces around Shropshire but still rolls perfectly well.
I haver vittoria open PAVE, down to 100 front 115 rear (68kg) I suspect I need to reduce the pressure more then, roads around carmarthenshire are a bit rough at the mo.
