What's a good tyre in the world of road tubeless at the moment?

I've just about got space for a 28mm tyre if it is *really* 28mm - even a fraction more and the wheel won't go round until it's managed to wear away some of the fork.

I've been using a Schwalbe G-one 25mm and it's fine but a bit fragile.

And I've recently put on a Hutchinson Intensive 2, which seems really nice other than being a bit skinny - it claims to be 25mm, but is actually 23mm.

I tried a maxxis padrone 25 on the road in the summer, and it's now on the back of the commuter. Like it, good feel to it, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if it holds up on the winter commute over urban roads, seems more of a racing tyre. So far so good though.

IRC Formula Pro RBCC in 25mm come up bang on size on an 18mm internal rim unlike the Schwalbe Pro Ones before them that were more like 28mm.

I preferred the size of the Schwalbe if I'm honest so may go up a size with the IRC next time.

I've had some time off the bike this summer but rode them for a couple of thousand miles through February into early June, seemed to be holding up very well with no nicks or any obvious signs of wear.

I've got the Rubaix Pro and they're great. Only come in a 30c though, so (if you're budget's decent!) the Sworks Turbo would be worth a go I reckon. I'll almost certainly get the Speshs again (unless something else comes up on a cheap deal probably!)

Schwalbe Pro Ones 28mm no issues run 55psi rolls well. Top up stans every 3000km no issues. Stopped carrying repair kits in Feb. Like my MTB tubeless if fitted and maintained seems flawless. Have had punctures. Ones on the front I saw small white air stream but just kept pedalling they sealed quickly.

Agreed, I love these tyres. Are you sure about the sizes though? Mine were marked up as 25/28, which I had to ask in the LBS what that actually meant. They said "its the width of a 25mm tyre but the depth of a 28"

You don't really have room for a 28 then, you'll be taking paint off as soon as you pick up a bit of grit on the tyres

Mine are similarly marked 30/32c -  they're the only 2Bliss models on the Spesh site.

Hutchinson Sector 28's are good and I can just squeeze on in the front of my Ritchey which is a very tight 28 (in reality 25)

the packaging suggests that it's a 28 carcass but with a 25 tread "glued" on

The 30/32 are a lovely tyre on rough roads but only good for summer on my back wheel as not enough clearance for winter crap

+1. Way more durable than Schwalbe Pro Ones, and better grip in the wet. I've not measured them, but they appear to be the same size as the 25mm Pro Ones they replaced. They fit under 35mm guards though it's fairly tight.

Sectors are quite nice, and I've just put a hutchinson "Fusion 5 All Season 11 Storm TLR Folding" on the back

Seems nice enough (after about 100miles only) and is waaaay smaller than the spesh 30/32 so I bet it's a pretty genuine 28

Hutchinson Fusion 5 Galactic.

Best tubeless tyres I have ridden in a 25mm.

They are a bit fragile though so am about to try much of the same on a Fusion All season through the winter.

They also do a performance version for a good middle ground.

Thanks,

Max

Could be the difference right there, don't think mine are 2bliss.

OI’ve been running 28c SWorks Turbo 2bliss all year and they’ve been great.

they’re £33* at Sigma, 280g genuine and roll well, I’ve not punctured in 2,500km.  You’d want the 26c version for your needs though as mine have grown a little and on Roval CLX32 wheels they now measure 31mm.

*EDIT seems only £33 in 28c.  Weird.

In a similar vein - has anyone found a sealant that works for road tubeless? Every time I've had a puncture (and having experimented with Pro Ones, that's quite often!) I've just ended up spraying spaff everywhere until the tyre is at too low a pressure to ride normally. Leave it a couple of hours to dry off and it seals and you can then reinflate to normal pressures, but kinda defeats the point of tubeless if you can't ride home! Basically it works at MTB pressures (sub 30psi), but not much higher.

I have set one wheel up with some glitter in the mix, but yet to puncture that, so no idea if it work or not.

ah, maybe that's why my 30/32 look so big. Maybe I should measure it up

sealant that works for road tubeless?

Stans lumpy jizz saved a ride once when my normal jizz failed

I use Orange seal.  but haven't punctured (that I know of) It's supposed to work for the road pressures fine.

Had orange seal and never worked for road for me, back to stand and that works well enough to get me home if I puncture
