Does anyone use plugs on their road tyres? The smaller volume and depth of a road tyre makes me wonder how it will work?

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Anchovies work well for me. Currently have two in my front tyre (gp5000) and they have been there for the last 2000 miles

Only used a single Dynaplug so far and it has been fine. Be in there for about 400 miles.

Road tyres have been know to 'spit out' standard Anchovies if you're unlucky due to the higher pressures, the brass tip of the Dynaplugs hold them in place while the actual sealing material bonds with the tyre.

Anchovies didn't work for me beyond 70ish psi no anchovie and sealant was as good for me.

After a demo on dynaplug that's what I carry now.

How do you deal with the plus on the outside of the tyre, trim flush are leave a bit proud of the tyre?  On the mtb the lump is not an issue as blends in with the knobs, I assume on a road tyre with a flat contact patch and higher pressure you will feel the 'knob' as it contacts the road?

Sealant always has sealed the few holes I’ve had. Did use a plug once, but my pump broke, so couldn’t tell if it would’ve held. I’m confident it would and always carry the Dynaplug.
The fixing rubber of the plugs is so soft, no way you’d feel it (or be disturbed by it if you did) on the road.

Dynaplug's official line is that you don't need to cut the 'tail' off, it will wear down fairly soon of it's own accord.

However, if it bothers you then you can cut it off, the 'pill' systems they do actually include a tiny blade for just this purpose.

https://www.swinnertoncycles.co.uk/search/dynaplug

I have the pointy refill plugs and Race tool.
Have ordered another tool from Swinnertons, it’s been nearly 3 weeks and still not received, so link is just for reference 😉

I've used anchovies type things. Only pump back up to about 50psi. I cut the excess off and then have removed the tyre and patched it from the inside when home.
