Spending a few days in a farm cottage in Bridlington next week so going to take the road bike.
Wondering if anybody knows if there is anywhere in particular I should head in terms of route planning, or should I just pick out some of the B-Roads on google maps?
I did search on RidewithGPS but it just seems to throw up millions of routes based on the coast to coast route which I've already done.
Only aiming for about 60miles in total though mind. A quick glance at Google maps seems to suggest it might be best to head west away from the coast?
Cheers in advance if anybody locals have any pointers.
It was a few years ago I last did it, but the NCN1 route in/out of Bridlington to the west (Woldgate) was atrocious with potholes, so just use the Boynton road if you are going / coming back from west or south.
The villages inland (the wolds) and roads are quiet and pretty, for example Wold Newton has a nice pub and village pond. Just be wary of the A-roads.
Getting up to Flamborough Head lighthouse is usually fine, as is the road north through Bempton (usually), but the usual caveats apply if the covid holidaying in the UK situation continues maybe it will be busier than usual. So is you get up early, Flamborough Head, Hunmanby, roughly NCN166 west to Sledmere, then back east on the B1253, Langtoft, Kilham, Rudston, Boynton, Brid. That might not be quite 60 miles but mostly pleasant roads.
Cheers Konagirl, that sounds like what I’m after, will give that a try 👍
