Around three weeks ago I had a big off and ended up with a patch of road rash on my lower leg about the size of your hand. I've kept it clean and thought I was healing nicely but yesterday I started coming out in blisters on the fresh skin, scab is off. I'd rather not go to the Doc's at the moment if it's nothing, because well pandemic and they're busy enough, but it's never happened to me before and I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not. Oh, no puss and the wound isn't hot or anything
Will I die?
Anybody had this before?
Do I need to bump?
Our local minor injuries unit have been more than happy to check out my road rash when I've been in during the pandemic (to be fair, only once).
Ring your GP, see what they say
Minor injuries or the nurse at your gPs
its probably too late now but hydrocollouid dressings are fabulous on gravel rash. slap a bit on leave a week and take it off to find it healed
Happened to me and I died. Posting this from beyond the grave.
In hindsight I'd have called my GP to at least see what they suggest, or done the e-consult thing and included pictures.
Melolin iodine pfa dressing is what you needed
Prob too late now
Melolin iodine pfa dressing is what you needed
no no no no
Iodine delays wound healing and melonin creates a dry wound bed which delays healing. POutdated dressings 30 years ago
Very basic perhaps but always use germolene antiseptic cream - works wonders for healing grazes and stuff.
I've had a few tactical dismounts on the road bike, the worst I left a load of skin on a road in Somerset. The event medics cleaned it up and I had the pleasure of a shower and sponge to thoroughly clean as well. After a few weeks the wound was weeping, felt warm and a gentle throb. Trip to the docs confirmed it was infected and prescribed a/biotics.
Get it checked would be my reccomendation. Go to minor injuries clinic or docs. If its infected it will only get worse, if it isn't that's great but you've checked.
