Time to admit my Planet-X RT 57 isn't the bike I should have bought. It just sits in the shed.

What then to move the Ultegra gearset and any other compatible bits to? A frame that will accept 32mm tyres with mudguards, (and proper fittings) that's on the racier end of the scale geometry wise. I did think about a Croix de Fer, but I think that'll be too much like my Day One with gears.

New or secondhand, I like steel but that's not a must, would rather have carbon forks and forego that. Rim or disk brakes, as I'll have to replace the calipers anyway. Not too spendy, (the Croix de Fer frameset on eBay is £400).

Cotic Roadrat, with dropbars? (not their design intent)
Charge Plug?
Kenesis something or other?

Lay it on me STW.

Bish bash bosh from planet X?

It's the next iteration of the London Rd bike I have which is great for everything so far.

Commute, Sunday club spin, Wicklow200, pub trip and light touring.

Why does the RT-57 just sit in the shed?  Do you not road ride?  Or do you want something you can take off road or something else?

Why would a Croix de Fer or a Road Rat not sit in the shed also.

Because of its still for road riding, steel bikes like those will probably feel a bit sluggish compared to a light carbon racier bike like the PX.  And so they'll end up in the shed too.

I don't road ride much, and when I do I take the Day One because it's not got stupid 23mm tyres which TBH are unsuited to UK road conditions, it has mudguards and just bowls along lovely.

I do want a geared road bike though, the main catylist for the decision is that we're going to do the 108 mile Tour of Flander this year, I can't see myself doing the extra 25 miles on the fixie. It'll not be used off road, well not until I get bored on a solo road ride and go and blast a path. 😁

Pinnacle Dolomite is ticking the boxes, someone reminded me about Pinnacle today on the MTB ride.

Just something that takes a 25mm or a 28mm tyre for me then - a frame with decent clearance.  Bish bash bosh might be a good choice, should still be reasonably light.  Croix de Fer etc will be heavy.

Genesis Datum(?) or a Giant Defy?  Or a Trek Checkpoint or even a Domane?

Trek Domane Disc. Mine takes 33mm knobbly tyres, has done the South Downs Way and one other CX Sportive that I can’t remember the name of.

Road riding wise it takes 32mm slicks with full guards.

Even the Edmonda Disc takes 32mm slicks.

Kinesis aiethin looks good. Clip on guards when needed.

that said; my cannondale SuperX would cover all your looking for if it was fitted with a compact chain set not the 1x11 cx gearing
