After a little accident at the weekend my forks ended up like this:

A friend has kindly given me a set of giant forks for me to use however i have some issues. The steerer is 1" and my old ones were 1"1/8. Is it possible to buy bearings to allow the smaller steerer to fit? The other issue is that the steerer is carbon and the warning states not to use a star nut. What should i use instead?

Thanks very much

for the headset you'll need a 1.1/8 to 1" reducer headset, i presume someone somewhere must make one?

as for the star nut, i think you need something like hope's head doctor which is much more gentle.

it might be cheeper and/or less hastle just to buy some new 1.1/8 forks?

Carbon bung.
Can't remeber if you can get headtube reducers or not, but then you'd need to reduce your Ahead stem as well.
My LBS is selling some Massi carbon forks uber cheap as his new shop inherited them.
