hi will a 10 speed cassette run ok on an 8 speed dura-ace hub? cheers

Er, I would have said not; 8 speed Dura-Ace was a bit different to the other 8 speed stuff, so you might need to investigate a bit more.

i was trying to work that out crikey im currently awaiting an answer if they are uniglide or not but im thinking if they are hyperglide then they will but its a right mind**** lol

Hyperglide have cutouts on the outer face of the sprockets, uniglide are the same both ways.

yeah im waiting for the guy with the hubs to tell me what fitting it has or send a pic as the one he sent you cant see the end of the freehub body.

do you think in right in thinking if its hyperglide fitting ie tightened on by a lockring with thread on the inside (like now) then it will take 10 speed but if its got thread on the outer end of the freehub body then its uniglide and is only 6/7/8 ??

Yes, that sounds right to my understanding.
If it has a screw on lockring then you should be ok, but a screw on bottom sprocket would not work with 10 speed.
