Road - DI2 woes. Ultegra RD-6870 - Alternatives?

I dropped my road bike a while back and ever since the battery on the DI2 has been running out quickly / over a few days. I've isolated the issue to the rear mech' - if I unplug it, leave it until I use it, its fine. So there must be a short in the mech somewhere.

As I forget to unplug it, I'm regularly come back to find it needing to be charged up again - very annoying, especially if you are intending to get out on a ride!

It's an RD-6870 11 speed mech. Thing is, this isn't made any more. Now I cant see any reason why I couldn't bolt on a suitable alternative such as https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-ultegra-r8050-di2-rear-derailleur-118803.html

Can anyone confirm the latest DI2 is backwards compatible? I'm guessing thats not the e-tube kit tho.

Cheers, Neil.

MIght be worth finding out if your local bike shop got the new Etube software and sm-PCE02, as they can check for "‘Battery consumption" also it can force a update/rewrite of the mech. weather it fix it could be 50/50 but might be worth a try.

Cheers Rob - may be worth a go as the mech works spot on apart from the short...
