As a rough idea, if I'm 5'6" with an inside leg of 29" (short ar$e!) what size road frame should I be looking at?
Ta.

Depends on the bike, but likely a 52-54, or the one below "medium" in a manufacturers standard range.

Different makes size them differently.
Maybe a 52cm in a trek and a 46cm in a Giant ... so best try 1st.

52-54 would be my suggestion too. I'm 5'9" and in between the sizes of 54-56. Opted for a 54 Spesh.
Some manufacturers sale small, medium, large, some by frame sizes. Need to try a few really.
What are you after?

Meant to say - I'm 5'7" and have both 54 and 56 cm road bikes.

Any answer you get on here will be wrong. You need to try one for size at least.

its most likely that you'll need a 52/54 but thats a bit like me saying you'll probably need a size 8 or 9 shoe.

Im 5,7 and got my first roadbike a few months ago.
Went for a Ribble gran fondo, frame size Small.

Perfect fit once seat adjusted an set up.

I went of the advise on here rather than being cheeky and going to LBS and trying a frame in the knowledge I wasn't going to buy from them ( couldn't do that )

I would be very surprised if you can get a 54 to fit.

My thoughts would be 50 or 52. I am 5'8" but with short legs 29" but either a long torso or arms. A 50 would be too small for me in reach, a 52 about right depending on specific geometry. A 54 would be fine in the TT but standover would typically be an issue.

It depends to a very great extent on you and on how you ride; I've got a long body and lickle legs, so I ride larger than expected frames to get the right top tube length.

Go try.

Depends how long your arms are. I'm 5'10 with short legs and long monkey arms and ride a medium long frame with a 120mm stem.

Had a 56cm Trek before that was too short but too tall for me. Test rode the 54 which was ok height wise but WAY too short.

If you've got anything like the length of arms i have you'll dwarf a 50 or 52. Get yourself measured, or test ride a load - it'll be worth it in the long run.

Even harder when i was trying to get a cx frame that would fit, as they come up short in the top tube as it is.

Another vote for a 52cm. I'm 5ft 8 and I need a 54cm. Depends on the manufacturer though! What is it you're watching?
