I've recently bought a new road bike and planned to use my old Synapse as a winter bike. I had a bike fit with the new one, but cannot get the seat to the same height on the Synapse (its about 20-30mm too low). Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy a longer seat post to get the right seat height?

So long as your reach isn't compromised you will be fine.
