You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all.
I need a bit of help with getting the correct sized road bike .
I had a 58cm secteur and even with a 90mm stem I always felt stretched out and it also felt like a barge.
I've been looking around again at road bikes with more relaxed riding position (defy, synapse and diverge) but not sure on the right size .
Giant puts me bang between ml and l
Synapse is 56 or 58
Diverge again 56 or 58
I'm not buying new so don't wnt to waste my lbs time as that's not fair .
Fwiw I'm 6 foot and a smidge with 32" leg.
Any ideas
Many thanks .
Steve
At 6ft I would say a 56 would be best.
I'm 6'2" and ride a ML TCR (which I think corresponds to a 56), albeit with a 130mm stem. I'd definitely go for the 56 in your case.
Also depends on the reach of the bars and how you have the shifters positioned.
Is 32 your actual inner leg or the length trousers you buy?
5’11 here with a 31”inside leg.
Ride a 56cm DeRosa, a Cannondale Ultrimo in a 56cm too.
Both with 120mm stems, and 44cm bars.
My Vaya is a 56cm too, but run a more upright 100mm stem on that, and my Fargo is a large, but run an 80mm on that.
Spotty Dog for me.
YMMV
We already did this only the other day .
You are a ML for a Giant Defy not a L. You'll need a 110 mm stem, and the bike will handle much better than the 58 that was always too large. Want a Cannondale? You're a 56, again you may need a longer stem than a 100.
And I shall defer to my previous comments. Just don't go large. Please. Once you've ridden a road bike that fits properly, you'll soon realise how far off the previous one was!
