You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My Gf has a 2010 Giant Avail 3 road bike with a Tripleset 9 Speed FSA Omega Mega Exo chainset.
The rings have worn out and need to be replaced.
The question what would work? Could Shimano rings be substituted in place of FSA rings if I could find them.
The FSA numbers CK-4000A, OB25
Markings on the biggest ring is 50/39T 130.
Any help greatly appreciated. What can I order or what should I order.
Many thanks,

OK, I'll go first. They are just standard chain rings, and should be fairly compatible across manufacturers. 130BCD is the diameter of the bolt circle, 50 tooth will be the largest ring and 39 tooth the small one.
Get ones for the correct number of speeds, (9 or 10?) and you should be OK, with the exception of modern shimano ones, which are have asymmetrical arms and hidden bolts to make them [s]more aero and stiffer[/s] proprietary and freaking expensive.
edit - sure you'll find something suitable on this page.
THe rings don't look too badly worn in the pictures. Maybe just give them a good clean 😉 ?
Otherwise, they' not worth replacing. Just bin the chainset and buy a new one.
There is that - price of new rings is ridiculous.
Thanks guys, thats given me some good pointers.
@davidtaylforth
I'll check the bottom bracket on the road bike and hopefully your link is compatible with it.
Many thanks.
From memory the FSA megaExo BB is a slightly different width to the Shimano ones, so careful spacing may be required.
Just buy a new Shimano BB; they're less than a tenner
New bb as well. Sorted. I'll check the bike later.
I think it's a giant avail 3 2010.
Probably worth getting a new chain aswell.....and the cassette.... 😉
New chain and cassette has already been installed by the gf.
Thanks again everyone.
As said above, those ring don't look too bad at all, but could do with a clean.
