Good afternoon all.
so can anyone recommend a cheap and cheer full bike frame I could use to build up as a single speed road bike. Kinda like the mango bikes but something I can chuck together my self I’ve got loads of wheels kicking about and spares just need a frame.

any advice

thanks

Tom

Are any of the wheels for fixed wheel (120mm spacing), or do they all have a freehub and standard road spacing? Dolan Precursa track or FXE frames make good single speed. But to be honest, any 531 steel frame in the correct size will be a lovey ride. Pay about £100 for something not very special. My favourite is a on a Paddy Wagon, or you could look for a Specialized Langster.

The set of wheels I have laid about have a free hub. I guess I could just use something on the lines of a single speed kit so tensioner and gear ? Literally just came across a kona paddy wagon look nice bikes. I’ll keep looking something will turn up.

Or get one with the dropouts and adjusters. I’m sure there’s a proper name for them 😂😂

any old frame without vertical dropouts will allow enough chain tensioning. You can pad out the freebhub with spacers like on an mtb. Or use a chain tensioner/old derailleur.  Road spacing can be different to mtb (and track) but steel frames are springy. The annoying part is the braze ons in the down tube for cable stops. I just had mine removed off an old steel frame to go full electronic shifting.

my colleague has just been reunited with the paddy wagon he sold a few years ago. He regretted selling it almost immediately!
