I have a Specialized Secteur with tiagra brakes and for some reason the front brake is constantly squealing like a banshee.
I've tried cleaning the rim and also tried to tighten the brake blocks but it's made no difference.
That is about the extent of my knowledge on road bike brakes so I'm a bit stuck.
Any ideas please.
Google 'toeing in' pads.
Also, check that the bolt/nut holding the calliper to the fork is nice and tight - if it's a bit loose the whole brake vibrates a bit and squeals like mad.
Worse than this intro? 😉
Tried re-installing pads with a bit of paper or credit card between the rearmost half of pad and the rim, while using brake lever? Bit of toe-in might cure it.
if it's still making a noise after that check the pads to see there isn't a bit of grit in there making a nice gouge in the rim
