So I have a GT Grade but that is going to stay in audax/ commuter mode, has wide tyres, mudguards, pack etc.
Looking for something faster and lighter now the nice weather has come. Can pick up a Defy 1 for £599 at the moment:

Am thinking if I pick this up, some cosine 32mm wheels, GP4000 tyres and ultegra brakes, I'll still have some change for £1k for some other bits. Is there anything better for the money, guess most the other options will be cheap carbon.
Welcome thoughts.
Good price but Rutland cycles service is hit and miss.
Ever thought of a lighter wheel set for your GT Grade?
Good strategy op.
I am a big fan of Cannondale

Yeh that is an option but its likely to live with gaurds and all the other bits of commuting, so likely to always be a bit of a porker
