Just picking up some cranks for my road bike and just pondering 175mm or 170mm. I'm 6'1" so I think the former, but wondered if there was any benefit to shorter?
Obviously they'll be lighter weight 😉
I have the same length cranks on all my bikes (170mm) since I prefer them to 175s. They're easier to spin and with less chance of knee pain. It's worth trying shorter cranks if you haven't done so before; you don't know what you might be missing! But don't forget to raise your seat by 5mm 🙂
I'm the same height as you, but leg length is the real issue.
172.5's? What I ride and I'm 6' 2"
Cheers

172.5's
172.5 for me, most common?? I would of thought
If you like bigger gears, get bigger cranks, you can still easily spin them if you want.
But really, anyone your height should be at least using 175mm or you're wasting the energy from the long levers (legs) you have.
Im on 180's and 5'9" with short legs.
I'm on 172.5's too
165....but I am Hobbit sized
6' long-ish legs and 175's. Never had an issue spinning them.
My new bike came with 172.5, I'd spec'd an upgraded 175 chainset so not pleased and waiting for a replacement.
And yes I can feel the difference.
