Ritchey Ascent sizing question

hey,

looking at doing a frame swap from my Kepler to an Ascent. After something a bit more aggressive, more clearance and mtb like geo wise. But being 6ft2 I can't help but think the even the XL will be too small when I compare numbers to my current bike. For example reach on the Ascent is 387 vs 401 and the TT is 590 on the ritchey vs 595 on the brother. Anyone a similar height for an XL Ascent and wondering how you get on with it?

cheers!

No direct experience in that size (in true STW tradition). But I tried a medium Ascent recently (but with drops). For me (6ft and a bit, with 33" inseam and relatively short arms), the medium was already longer than I wanted for my purposes, and the bars were quite low. Obviously, that would change with flat bars, but opportunities to test-ride Ritcheys are scarce, so I tried what they had built-up.

I also tried a Swiss Cross -- just for fit, but I "think" I might be best on an L or XL Outback, which unfortunately wasn't in stock. While the Ritcheys DO gain some stack in the larger sizes, I suspect I'd still end up too stretched and too low at the front for my ageing back and T-rex arms.

To be fair, my current bike is a Jones, so everything else feels too long and low. But I do fancy shedding 5 kg of bike weight, and keep pondering options, including the Ascent and Outback.

Bike Insights is a good place to start comparing geometry. It reckons the reach on the XL Ascent is 397 mm.
[Settings] in the top-right corner can align the diagrams to the ground, BB, or axles.

yeh, im in a similar position. testing them is very hard and its an expensive mistake to make. thanks for that website really good to see visually the differences rather than looking at numbers.

5'11" and on a Large Outback here. The medium would have resulted in far too much seatpost being exposed.

Based near too Chorley if any use for you

in terms of exposed seatpost do you mean visually too much or so much you wouldn't have the min insert? thanks for the offer but im down south.
