Been looking for some SLX or XT 4 pots at a decent price to replace my Sram Level T's and came across these.

https://www.bikeinn.com/bike/shimano-uk-au-mt501-4-piston-front-kit/136938227/p

https://www.bikeinn.com/bike/shimano-uk-au-mt501-4-piston-rear-kit/137542448/p

I wasn't aware they existed but did a bit of research and apparently they offer all the power of the more expensive stuff but without the shiny finish. They estimate delivery before New Year - let's see what happens.

Thanks. Purchased. I hope I get a left lever, a right lever, two hoses, one of which is long, and 2 calipers. As long as I get that, I can sort it.

These prices are slightly cheaper than the China/Taiwan sellers on eBay.

No idea about the retailer but they’re great brakes.

Just be aware they are set up euro style, front left, rear right, so you will have to swap them over.

The cheapest shimano disc brakes really are a steal - just avoid the *very* cheapest ones that have the 3 finger lever.

Not such a fancy finish, less adjustability on the lever but on price/performance they're unbeatable

You might get lucky, mine came from Germany boxed euro style but the levers were disconnected and plugged so they were an easy fit on the correct side.

What’s the difference between these and the mt520? I’ve got a set of mt520’s that came on a bike sat in a box.

No difference as far as I'm aware. One is the caliper and one is the lever I think (MT501/520).

I had some a couple of years ago on my Intense Spider and really rated them for the price.

Fitted a set of these on a mates bike a few weeks back, he's gone from 2 pot cheap shimanos to these 4 pots.
As a rider on the heavier side, he really rates them. Very stoppy.

I wouldn't trust BikeInn at all. Caused me no end of issues when I bought a couple of parts and ended up costing me more that it should have. There customer support is useless as well, automated responses and will not listen to your issues.

Cheers! I’ll have to get them sold.

"Due to the Shimano new regulations relating to distribution, we are not allowed to ship some products of this brand to United Kingdom"..

Those brakes have had that warning on and off all year. I bought some from them earlier in the year when they were even cheaper and noticed the same thing they now and then. Try again in a day or two - it didn't appear to be Brexit related as this was back in april/may.

BikeInn are fine - I use them when I can’t find stuff locally.

Bit of an odd thing to put up given the EU laws surrounding who retailers can sell to.

Great brakes. I got some early this year for around £75 per end. What were these going for? It won't show the price now because of the Shimano policy words.

I'm interested to see what the price was as well. I bought a front SLX 720 from Bikester for £106 and a reay SLX 720 from deporvillage for £96 just before Xmas. They came plugged as well and could be swapped over. Great brakes though they took a few wet rides to bed in .

That is a good price and I'd have probably went for it over the SLX's as I've since had to buy a new rear mech and DUB Bottom Bracket. 🙁

Why do you say to avoid the cheaper ones with the 3 finger lever? I assume you mean the M4100 lever, the one without servowave. I've put some of these on my Optic with Xt 4pot calipers and 200mm icetec rotors. I wanted to get away from servowave and all the unreliability and overly grabby action that it brings.
I've only done a few rides on them but they feel great so far. The larger lever works for me too. I have fairly big hands and it means I can use an I-spec shifter and have the end of the brake lever in line with my index finger without my thumb getting mashed by the shifter.

I too love these.... more modulation without the servo wave making them on/off.

Its like a cut price hope brake feel!

Just run the longer levers inboard of your shifter and use your two fingers on the end of the lever.

I've had good results from mine so far with 1 finger on the brake. Seems plenty powerful enough. I think I'm going to get the same setup for my 161 and hardtail too so that all bikes have the same feel on the brakes.

And they're here! Came in the correct Shimano packaging and are set up Euro style but that doesn't bother me as I'll have to disconnect the rear lever when fitting anyway. The finish on them isn't too bad either - they certainly don't look 'cheap'.
Now I've just got to tackle my Remedy's internal routing!

My tracking says that they have been sent to the Kirkcaldy Delivery office by mistake. Fife! Yuck! I'll have to boil them in vinegar when they arrive.

Mine were ordered 28/12/2020 and arrived mid Jan. No customs, but BikeInn seem to have a forwarding warehouse in the UK.
