Ha all.

I've got Nobby Nic which has small rip in the sidewall. It's not tubeless.

I'm off the opinion that it should just be binned it out but Prophet Jr is insisting that it can be patched suitably for reuse.

Anyone successfully 'operated' on a ripped sidewall before and gone on to have many more happy bike rides with the tyre?

Cheers

you can get tyre patches which work ok for smallish tears, ime, either running tubeless or tubed.

Some people will sew them up with dental floss too.

NN's were the worst tyres I've owned for sidewall tears, though.

Yes, I have repaired large sidewall tears successfuly, and have gone on to ride 100's of miles on the tyre without issue. It's down to a glue we use at work of which I have some at home, and a tyre sidewall patch. I have done a few friends tyres too so know it works.

I've ridden for some time on a tyre patched with duck tape. Then when that started to give, I stuck on a square of copter tape, and then a layer of duck tape over the whole lot again. Good as new!

Frankenokian! Are you a surgeon dropoff?

Good effort on the waste not skills.

Duct tape on the inside of the tyre will hold everything in place, if you're nifty with a needle and thread then they can be repaired as per dropoff's rather natty pic shows.

Nicely done!

Tyre rip sewed (though not as neat as dropoff's example). Tested last night, seemed to hold together nicely. Going over the rocky stuff was a bit of a commitment initially, visions of exploding tyre didn't inspire confidence.

Cheers for the help.
