Hello all. I have a shimano m552 triple crankset... This I believe is an OEM job and mix of slx and Deore. It's a 10 speed. I need new rings..... Bit confused at the options. I have ordered some m532 rings but now worried these won't fit as they say for 9 speed? I know people run 9 speed cranks sets with 10 speed running gear but will rings fit on the 10 speed cranks? (oh and to confuse things slightly I only need lower and middle gear so will actually have 2 9 speed rings and a 10 speed)

Hope that is kind of clear 🙂

Any help appreciated!

They'll fit as they're 104mm BCD. Whether they're compatible speed wise, I don't know 🙂

Yeah woody that's pretty much what Google told me.... Suppose I will just stick them on and see! Cannot see much difference between 9/10 speed rings... Maybe ever so slightly narrower for the narrower chain but actually thinking about it, the internal width of 9/10 speed chain is the same.... 10 speed chain has thinner plates so narrower overall... Thus why a 9 speed cassette struggles.

With rings i am not sure.... Maybe it's actually spacing between that is different?

Well may aswell update this if anyone stumbles upon in the future..... And the answer is..... Works fine 🙂 now running cheap 9 speed Deore 22t rings on both slx and xt cranks (were sold as 10 speed). Middle ring running Deore 9 speed and outer the original 10 speed.

No difference in shifting performance at all.
