Tried a 2.4 trail king ust on my Ritchy wcs wheel. 21mm intetnal width, set up ok tubeless with a track pump.
Could i get it to feel attatched to the ground, could i hell
3 or 4 attempts at getting the pressure to give me a semblance of grip and feedback left me frustrated
Just squirmy all the time, like you have had a puncture on a ust tyre and it's taken a while le to seal
Normslly run 2.2 Ikon or 2.3 Aspen so not exactly grippy enduro rubber. I was expecting it to be slower on the ups and faster on the downs, but it was verging on dangerous.
So do i stick with it and really wind up the pressure or bin it off and stick with eithr an ikon or bonty xr4 or i have a rekon race in 2.3 to test ad well.
I would change the rim - 21mm is very 1990's
get something closer to 30mm
Probably cheaper than a new tyre (depending on tyre and rim poshness) and you will see a far greater leap in performance
It might be the tyre tbh. I ran 2.4 mountain king 2’s (black chilli - with tubes) on 19mm mavic rims a few years back. Didn’t squirm or cause any issues.
Also quite happily run a 2.5 wide trail Maxxis DHF on a 25mm internal rim.

Same here and I also ran those tyres tubeless with Stan's strips on XM719s. Might it be the UST aspect?
I've had 2.4 WTB Trail Boss on 19mm internal width rims and had no adverse effects - mind you that's at Bimble Plus level 😂
Hardtail, 22psi front, 24psi rear with tubes!!!!!!!!
The tyre with tubeless printed on the sidewall is pretty old stock isn't it?
The UST version certainly has a more substantial carcass than the protections etc.
What pressures were you playing around with?
I had a bad crash when a 2.4 Trail King (was a Rubber Queen at the time) blew off a narrow rim on landing a jump.
Man, it was loud.
Doesn't have tubeless on it
Dounle checked weights and its 5gm out from the ust stated weight and the non ust is 100gm lighter, from the awful continental website
Was doing ride and adjust so no acurate guage, but squash test was low 20s
Seemed better to start, and its gone flat overnight so more stans required
It may have been loosing air whilst riding, maybe for that volume pn that rim 28 to 30 wil stsbalise it
My thinking was along the fat tyre approach, wider and more volume means less pressure
