I have a set of 29er wtb sti rims that I was going to build up for a new Salsa Vaya frame.
Will they accept 700c tyres or will I be restricted to 29er tyres
Am considering a set of WTB Nanos
I've got some 700c tyres on those rims - i19 or maybe 21, i forget
I think the rim diameter is exactly the same for 29 and 700c and I also think that I got them set up tubeless with no hassle (they are proper tubeless road tyres - 28s IIRR)
(just checked. i19 and 28s)
No problem.
My FatNotFat 29er wheels with ~20mm internal rim width can fit anything from 700x28mm to 29x2.35", albeit not at silly low pressures for the latter.
The rim designation says
25-622
If that helps?
Great they’ll be great on the new Vaya frame my kids surprised me with!!

*did 🙁
bottom line (almost literally) is that 700c and 29er rims are both 622mm
pretty !
I run 700c commuter tyres on one 700c wheel and one 29er wheel. They are both Shimano wheels and look exactly the same apart from front / back and colour and the code on both is (622x19c). It's just stupid how they are the same but marketed differently, MTB tyres measured (badly) in inches and road in mm 💡
Same rim, crack on
Cheers itching to get building and plan an overnight bike packing ride
