My tyres started losing air and I took the rim tape off and saw this [img]
[/img]
I assume it is terminal and needs a new rim.Anyone with any good news feel free to post. It's a Crest, and has been in use for 5 years, and I'm a fatboy,so it's probably done well.
Bin it, unless you like visiting the dentist - not worth the risk.
^ what b r said but don't bin it. Turn into coat hanger or cool clock.
If it is a 26" a new rim or second hand wheel is dirt cheap not its an obsolete size.
You might of had a very lucky escape there OP...that would have gone off with a bang!...deffo bin the rim!!
What's the rim?
Crest according to op.. Aren't they quite lightly built? Maybe get a slightly more agricultural replacement 😉
You could take the risk of riding it like I did with a front years ago (V brakes).
Loud bang, V pads almost held the two halves of rim together as I went over the bars.
I was going uphill off-road, I shudder to think of the outcome had I reached the top and been going down ...
BIN. NOW.
I've got a heavier built set of wheels too,I might just get another rim put on and use it for canal bank pootles etc.
