Probably a naive question but here goes.
Pub/Family ride bike: Claud Butler Cape Wrath D24 (2007 or 8 IIRC), now single speed.
Current Forks: RST Omega T7 with 100mm travel.
I'm contemplating swapping in some cheap rigid forks.
What are the dimensions of the fork I need?
What headset do I need?
Are caliper mounts a standard size - ie. Will I be able to find forks where the brake calipers swap straight over?
Excuse my ignorance...
Presumably a straight steerer, rather than tapered? I'd be amazed if it was tapered...
465mm axle to crown should be about right, but you can measure your current one to check.
Are the discs IS mount or post mount? Post mount is two posts sticking out from the fork leg. IS mount is a bracket that has holes for the caliper screws. Google will show you pics of both.
You can normally get adaptors for most types anyway....
Edit - oh, and no need to change the headset from your current fork. You just need to take the crown race off the current fork and put it on the new one.

Yeah, straight, not tapered.

Thanks, I'll measure it and use 465mm as a sanity check. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Good question thanks for raising it, now I know the distinction I've measured it, 51mm International Standard.

Brill, ta!
You need an on one carbon fork.
Preferably second hand.
With only minor scratches. But in otherwise great condition.
Which is cheap.
