Hello,
I'm after something a bit old fashioned maybe - a 26", rigid fork, straight (1 1/8") steerer, 15x100mm, disc mount, with mudguard mounts and approx. the same axle to crown as I'm replacing (~485-500mm).
Ideally this would also be pretty cheap!
All I can find online are QR, or Boost spacing, does what I want (long list I know) still exist?
Cheers
Define'cheap'?
have a look at surly forks, they used to have the best selection. Don't forget that you will need a shorter fork than the sus fork you're replacing to account for sag etc. 490-500mm is long for a 26" rigid fork you'd be looking at a 29'er I reckon - just check the offset is similar, normally around 42mm for 26".
Carboncycles.cc have them but the 26" says suitable for 445mm . You could go for their 29er which gives 490mm as a/c length.
Not what I would call cheap though.
There are also many Chinese carbon manufacturers on eBay which will be cheaper but will take a while to get here
Not that old fashioned - you're effectively mixing old and new standards on that list. I run a set of these in my 26" MTB (AC c.468mm iirc) and they work fine - but they're 9mm QR. They do another one that's straight steerer, through axle and 470mm AC, but it's boost. In your position I might buy that plus a boost conversion kit for the front wheel.
Carboncycles (almost) have one.
The only thing is doesn't have is mudguard mounts.
Could put a qr converter in the 15x100 hub.
Retrograde conversion (and I say that as someone who runs 9mm QR wheels). Buying forward, I'd be getting boost forks and converting the wheel with an £8 adapter kit.
Also, in case you're unaware, you can run a tapered steerer fork in an EC44 headtube with a conversion lower headset - depends on what frame you're trying to crowbar this into. Widens your options if that applies.
Thanks for all the help - think QR adapter for wheel may be necessary.
Unfortunately its a centrelock 350, so boost conversion not the easiest, wanted to avoid changing to QR as it's not a simple end cap swap but I'll survive!
Like I said, CC have one that is 15mm/100mm, just no mudguard mounts.
15mm bolt through will be your stumbling block on a 26" 1 1/8th fork

Mudguard mounts were to be my justification to buy a new fork rather than swap axle adapters 🙂
Accepted defeat I think.
