You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Looking for some riding in this area for the end of July for something to do on our drive back from Slovenia/eastern Italy. Lift assisted would be good but not necessary. Doesn't have to be these countries as we don't have a set route planned. Thanks for any help.
For the Czech Republic try Pod Smrkem. A custom made trail centre like you get in the UK. Nice people and very chilled at the trailhead.
In Eastern Germany right on the border to the Czech Republic is Rabenberg Trail centre. Bit more technical than Pod Smrkem but not as much flow (but apparently it has been improved upon since the last time I was there.
Both the above places don't have uplift but apparently there is a newish bike park in Oberweisenthal which is not that far from Rabenberg that uses the ski lifts. Not been there in the summer myself.
Another place a bit further north but still in eastern Germany is the Harz mountains and Braunlage which has a cable car uplift and bike park.
Failing that there are a few downhill tracks in the Thuringian Forrest but the uplift is generally organised through the local riding clubs. Inselsberg DH track is one example in Tabarz but I wouldn't want to ride it on anything other than a DH bike as some of the drops are huge and it's a regular on the German national circuit.
Edit; Just remembered there is also Spindl bike park in the Czech Rep. which is pretty popular with a lot of the German DHers around here.
Cheers for all the help, they look like just the ticket! We'll be on trail bikes so those trail centres look good. had already considered the Harz mountains after a recommendation from a friend but it's good to see another recommendation.
