Got the chance for a day out tomorrow, but the forecast involves -1 and 40mph winds. Pretty unpleasant I'm guessing.

Does anyone know if Staveley has had loads of snow? Or gisburn as a more sheltered alternative?

I'm in Blackpool and althoughh there was a light dusting yesterday, we've had no snow.

Give Wheelbase a ring they'll soon be able to tell you, plenty of snow here in Carlisle and plenty in Keswick too.

Certainly a fair bit of snow here (nr gisburn). Wouldn't put me off cycling (MTB) but the roads may be a challenge.

You could phone Biketreks at Ings. Except I believe the staff couldn't make it in....

It has had lots. Nearly every school in the area closed today, Windermere road closed this morning but clear now. All the minor (non gritted) roads coated in snow ice.

Pretty nice now - but cold.  I decided not to go to work today though!

Tomorrow... depends how this low tracks.  Looks like there may be a few snow showers come over and everything is going to freeze tonight so I am not overly sure I would bother myself - it's the ice rather than the snow that would put me off!

Some quotes from the mwis.. ..

Some ferocious gusts reaching lower slopes. Extreme wind chill.

visibility often appalling due to blowing snow.

-8C: exceptionally cold. Will feel close to minus 30C directly in the wind.

....

It's probably not a good idea

staveley only got a few inches, no problem getting there by mid morning today, think biketreks staff must of fancied a day off although the roads where queued up first thing this morning. couldn't get to my job but it was up a long steep drive up kentmere.

would be good conditions for a ride tomorrow if you can manage to keep warm which might be tricky.
