Getting fed up with the poor fit of 5.10

Id like a shoe that is foot shaped! Any makers out there doing this?

Flats I assume?

There were a couple of threads on this during December (one was mine about winter boots but it did swing into general shoe shapes).

I was using a 10.5 FiveTen pre Adidas but an 11 now fits.

Why shoe manufacturers seem to think that middle aged IT managers and accountants all have Cinderella feet is quite beyond me.

Shimano do a wide fit.

If you're riding SPD lake come in wide and super wide.

510s are way to narrow for my flipper feet. Shimano gr7's fit much better but aren't as grippy and I don't think they'll last as long.

Shimano are not wide at the toes.

Too many shoes are advertised as wide fit when the only wide part is where the laces start just behind the toes. Then they go all narrow at the toes. I'm hoping Altra will one day make MTB shoes.

If your feet are foot shaped like ducks feet, it's always going to be a struggle. I've had success stretching the toe box on some shoes over a few weeks with heat and a shoe stretcher with a few extra bits attached to the sides at the very end.

I have flipper feet and gave up on 5.10, I now have Ride Concepts TNT, quality and fit is great and true to size. Grip not quire as good as free riders as they are stiffer/thicker. Worth a try?

I'd love to know the answer to this one. All my footwear is barefoot except safety boots and cycling shoes.

Second the desire above for someone like Altra to make a flat MTB shoe. Trouble with most barefoot shoes is that the sole is too flexible for mtb. Might be okay if matched to a pedalling innovations catalyst Evo pedal but they've stopped making them.

Currently still using 5:10 impact vxi that I've had resoled a few times.

If specialized made a flat shoe and clipless shoe the same shape and size as Altra. That would be amazing.

They still make them.

Not the Evo. They were make by Superstar and I asked the question recently.

I think they may be a bit wider, the 5.10's took a few rides to get comfortable, the Ride Concepts felt a good fit straight away. The only difference I noticed was the sole was thicker and felt less grippy for a few rides, much like 5.10 Impacts

My old pair of altra lone peaks are surprisingly good for riding in, not sure I'd be happy wrecking a new pair but these are well past their best for running.

I think it would have to be lone peaks though, the mt king and intuition shoes I also have are too soft/flexible for decent riding use.

The best I’ve found is Freeriders (not the Pro ones) half sized up. No one seems to make a proper wide shoe and definitely not a foot shaped shoe. And most foot shaped (non biking) shoes tend to have thin flimsy soles which are great for your feet and walking nut not for riding.

I’m have tempted to buy a CrossFit shoe like the Reebok Nano and have them resoled as they are usually quite stiff for weightlifting, etc.

Just need to find somewhere that resoles in 5Ten these days.
