whats good around there?
gonna be there around NY with the gf, who is new to mtbing - so want somewhere relatively easy, fun, not boggy etc... any trail centers around there? etc?
cheers
Try Rivington. loads up there.
Give me a shout for some routes if you like (email in profile)
There is sod all round the fylde coast.
I'm confused!
(rivi's ok, but i can't show you and am spending new year with harry)
i live in the pool. its as flat as a pancake. no hills for miles. nearest off road is Rivvi. lee quarry, Gisburn forrest and the lake district are all about an hours drive but worth it. The prom at Blackpool and St Annes is miles long, 20 plus great for a ride with super views etc cafes. The weather is usually dog doo though with hideous winds this time of year, actually all year round. WHY did i move here?

As a born-and-bred Blackpudlian who still hasn't got round to leaving, I'd suggest you find somewhere nicer to spend the New Year!!! 😆
On the other hand, as has already been suggested, Rivi's probably the nearest for natural trails, but I would also definitely recommend a trip to Gisburn Forest (but then I would say that, being one of the trail builders... 😉 ). As you're looking for something relatively easy, I'd suggest sticking to the lower loop - there are sections graded Red and Blue, but even the Blue bits have got enough about them to be fun. Give me a shout (email in profile) if you'd like to know more - I would offer to show you round, but I'll be Hogmanaying in the Outer Hebrides... 😀
cheers guys. heard a bit about rivi, but didn't realise gisburn was accessible...
will have a look see, and may get in touch with those who offered closer to the time...
s_o - had a wee chat this afternoon with her, we're gonna have a chillax for a bit, but keep xmas plans. see how it goes.
tony - i'm staying in lytham, its nice there, not planning on venturing to blackpool 😉

Good decision... 😀
Lytham isn't exactly rocking is it?? Anyhow Id go to Gisburn and follow the blue or just ride around the forest. It takes me about 45minutes to get to Gisburn from the centre of Preston so would take just over an hour from Lytham. See link below:

If you go on a sunday you may even see the trail pixies there..
I live there you know. Gotta go to Gisburn, I'll come with you, I'm definitely going at Christmas.
