That's how Specialized describe their new Elaston saddles! Sounds appealing. Especially as I'm still trying to find the right saddle to go on my Tripster (3 years..) and it's stopping me from doing any long rides on it.

But! The cheapest is £175! To £190! What if my arse doesn't like it?? No mention of an 'unconditional comfort guarantee'.

No mention of an ‘unconditional comfort guarantee’.

They have a 30 day comfort guarantee if you buy in store, same as all of their aftermarket saddles.

You get fitted before you buy it, and I think they have demo ones.

Havent met anything who didn’t like it, tbh

Fizik do free test rides on all their saddles for a period of time.

I suggest you start at the bottom of the range and work your way up.

Ignore Spesh, they’re good but not that good.

Cool. Not mentioned on the site. Worth a go then.

You get fitted before you buy it

I don't think getting fitted will work for me cos it's not the sit bones, but the inner thigh rub that causes me issues. Wide sit bones but hate wide saddles. Fizik saddles have been ok in the past, (wingflex)

Hello, I didn’t like the power range, the phenom or romin.

what do I win?

Wouldn't it make more sense to fill the pillows with clouds than fill the clouds with pillows?

The ones on your other bikes don’t work?

Well, they're mountain bikes, so different ...

How do you get the seatpost low enough in the frame to allow room for 1000 pillows?

I've never got that "logic" - I've never had a problem swapping saddles around bikes.

Hmm, I've never got the "logic" of what works for me must work for everybody else..

You fart into MTB saddles and across road saddles.

its to do with the drop usually run on road bikes. Obviously this doesn’t account for the middle aged with bars on their bikes higher than the saddle, giving a very MTB position.

No need to be defensive, I just don't understand why a saddle on an mtb becomes uncomfortable on a road bike (beyond the below)..

I do get that logic, but it's not mattered for me.

Wasn't being defensive, just couldn't find the appropriate emotithingy.

Yeah - Tripster is mostly used on the road, on drops or hoods, sat down pedalling for majority of the time. MTBs aren't.

That said, the Fizik [s]Arione[/s] (not Arione, can't remember the model name) I used to use off road, was ok, but it's knackered and they don't make them anymore. Some Syncros saddles are similar, but not quite right. It's just damn expensive to keep changing them!

So I need a try n buy type scenario in a nearby LBS.

Road riding involves seated pedalling in one position for longer periods of time whereas mtb really really shouldn't.
logical?

I'm happiest with light stiff minimalist racy saddles on both mtb and road. sitting on a cloud filled with 1000 pillows to ride a bike sounds horrible.

Mostly because on the road bike I'm sat down for 20 minutes or more at a time. On the MTB I'm sat down for seconds to minutes at a time a the most. The turbo trainer is the ultimate test, over an hour in the same position!

So I get away with a £20 charge spoon on my MTB which is too wide really whereas my road bike has a Selle Italia SLR Gel-flow which seems to suit me perfectly. I

If you're Mr Average 145mm saddle with no cut out then you'll get away with something more generic like a Charge Spoon, SDG Bel-Air etc.

I've never used any saddle that an hour on a turbo wouldn't make my cock and balls completely numb and then the second I warmed down/stopped I'd be left with a raging stoaner I couldn't even feel. In a shared tenement this made for an interesting walk from the turbo (spare) room to the shower. A pillow might have come in handy.

Is this like that Princess who could pee through a thousand mattresses?

Always struck me as a bit high maintenance, tbh.

I'd go for 777 pillow version it's just as floaty but laterally stiffer.

I'm with Dez on this...
On my MTB i find MOST saddles are fine, but on my tripster I've been particularly persnickety about choosing a saddle..mainly as has been stated; you sit and spin more..

I've found the Brooks cambium a good model - Dez, you tried them??

Nope! I shall investigate... sounds expensive though 😉

sitting on a cloud filled with 1000 pillows to ride a bike sounds horrible.

Only really if you take it literally though eh.

Try a Prologo . My Giant Saddle had a wide nose and rubbed on my thighs giving me weird localised cramps .

I think I got a prologo Nago , either way problem sorted instantly

I sat on a Prologo once, thought, that feels good... bought one.. didn't like it. Maybe I'll give it another go cos I think that was on my Yeti

There are plenty of cheaper alternatives to 100quid + saddles...

Have you tried an ISM one ? They do quite a range for different shapes and disciplines.

i guess I'm used to doing longest rides on my MTB, not road bike, with plenty of sitting down too.

Entirely subjective/personal but my cambium is my favourite .

It's less about the total amount of sitting down, and more about the time spent sat in one position without moving. I can do 8 hours on the mountainbike and not have a problem, but 20minutes on the same saddle on the turbo wrecks my undercarriage.
