In Carlisle for a couple of days, got the bike with me.
Where is my best bet for a evening ride? Is Winlatter to far? Anywhere closer?

Whinlatter is 45 mins but i would do some of the natural stuff around Keswick or Langholm in the borders only 30 mins from Carlisle

Thanks for the suggestions.
Going to be limited for time, and not got a os map, so probably just go for a trail centre.
Never been to Newcastleton, might try that?

Yeah, what's the crack with this? I was up there on saturday gone and didn't see anything about closing the start. Are we back up to Dykehead again?

I live in Carlisle, regular trail centre evening rides are Whinlatter, Mabie and Newcastleton, all about 45 mins or so away (traffic depending)

There is some cheeky stuff in woods but not what you'd call proper ride material just short tracks for messing about on.

Easy enough to go to keswick and ride, borrowdale bash (or half bash if you want shorter loop), lonscale fell and other cheeky options

There is loads of nice rides around the caldbeck fells, one I do is from mosedale up to skiddaw house. Depends what you want to do.

There's **** all riding or racing in what feels like a 100 mile area around Carlisle.

There's some new stuff been built for the Muckle Toon Adventure Festival in Langholm.

Might be worth asking about it in Bikeseven at Longtown, they were there last year. Daan & Levi are really nice folks too...
